About the company
exact construct GmbH is a Swiss software company based in Frauenfeld that helps businesses automate and digitize their operations through custom web applications, business tools, and Microsoft 365 solutions. The company later established a sister engineering office in Zamboanga City, Philippines, where I began my professional software engineering career.
My journey there
Looking back, this was where I truly grew as a software engineer.
When I joined the team, I was surrounded by engineers with different experiences and technical backgrounds. Much of what I learned didn’t come from formal training, it came from curiosity. Whenever I encountered something I didn’t understand, I researched it, experimented with it, and eventually applied it in our projects. That habit of continuously learning became one of the most valuable skills I carried throughout my career.
Because we worked on multiple client projects, I was constantly switching between different codebases, technologies, and business domains. One day I would be implementing new features, and the next I would be helping debug production issues in an entirely different application. Those experiences taught me to become comfortable with unfamiliar technologies and to focus on understanding problems before jumping to solutions.
As the team grew, so did my responsibilities. I became more involved in establishing development standards, reviewing code, mentoring teammates, and improving how we worked together. I introduced CI/CD into our development workflow after spending time learning and experimenting with it myself. Over time, I also shared what I had learned through technical discussions and training sessions with the web engineering team. Seeing those improvements adopted across projects was one of the most rewarding parts of my journey there.
Closing thoughts
More than the projects we delivered, exact construct shaped the engineer I am today.
It taught me that learning is a responsibility, not something that only happens when someone teaches you. It showed me the importance of writing maintainable code, documenting decisions, collaborating with a team, and continuously improving the way we build software. Most importantly, it gave me the confidence to step outside my comfort zone, explore unfamiliar technologies, and contribute wherever I could create value.
Eventually, I decided it was time for a new challenge. I wanted to work on products instead of client projects, experience a different engineering environment, and continue growing beyond what I had already learned. That decision led me to Viyahe/Monark, where the lessons I gained from exact construct became the foundation for everything that followed.
